On the Road Again!

Heading out first thing in the morning for Batesville, MS.  Using tomorrow as a travel day, we will attend Sunday morning service at a friend’s church the present a benefit concert Sunday evening at First United Methodist in Batesville.  It’s a concert to raise funds for a mission trip some in the church are taking.

Pray that though the entertainment and hopeful inspiration we’ll see people reached for the Kingdom.  I’ll be in touch!

John

Luling,Sunday

It was a busy day beginning with a pancake breakfast for the community followed by egg hunts set up in age appropriate groups, then a gospel singing all before the service at 10:45.

The service went well and there were 9 decisions in the adult service.  We headed home just ahead of the storms around 1:00 p.m. and arrived home at 7:00.

We’ll spend this week preparing for the upcoming concert weekend in MS.  Thanks for the prayers,

John

Luling, Saturday

The day started when housekeeping began banging on the door before 8 a.m.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  Fortunately, we were just about ready to head out for the day so they only rushed us by a little bit.  We went to the church around 9:15 and talked through everything with the sound guy of the Jake Smith Band.  I did 30 minutes in between their gig.  It was fun although difficult.

Following that we headed back to the hotel where we were meeting some friends of ours and we drove into the “city”.  New Orleans.  Geez…..folks, that is God’s freak show.  We walked and walked and walked and walked before finally leaving then eating out.  It was a good day with friends.

Tomorrow we will go to the church around 9:30 and gear up for the kids worship that begins at 10:45.  Around 12:00 we’ll start the journey home.

Continue to pray for us and our effectiveness toward the kids and safe travel.

Blessings

Headed to Luling, LA

Luling, LA, is a small town west, southwest, of New Orleans.  We pull out tomorrow morning (Friday) for the 6 hr. drive.  We’ll check into the hotel on the outskirts of N.O. then on Saturday we’ll get busy.  Things begin at the church Saturday morning around 8:30 and run til noon.

Then on Sunday things, again, will begin early and ending by noon.  Pray for our travel.  Strong thunderstorms expected.

Blessings,
John

Home

We arrived home last night after a 10 day road trip.  It was a tiring one but filled with a number of victories.  While in Mathews, LA, we saw a 73 year dear lady who’s been active in the church most of her life, come to Christ.  Seeing her experience real peace and relief was a really special time.

Following the revival services we headed to Yazoo City to visit overnight with parents and do odd jobs around the house.  I was able to “fix” a few things, cut the yard and put out fertilizer for dad so that was nice.

On Saturday we drove to Belmont, MS, for a weekend of ministry.  Saturday night was AWANA Family night and it included games, inflatables, supper, and a service by me.  Lots of fun.  On Sunday I led in the service.  At the invitation there was a young couple that came forward.  The wife has been active with the kids programs at the church and her husband is a different denomination and attends, ordinarily, elsewhere.  He came forward to profess Christ as Savior, saying he realized he had been living without Christ and had been baptized having never made that specific decision to follow Christ.  That was awesome!

Thank you for your prayers.  We’re home until Friday when we head to Luling, LA, for an Easter weekend.

Blessings,
John

Wednesday, Mathews

Another good service.  Unfortunately no movement at the invitation but the people present were very responsive throughout the service and the spirit was good.

We appreciate your prayers throughout this meeting and covet them as we head out tomorrow for Yazoo City.  Pray for wisdom in our travel schedule.  Yazoo City is expecting severe storms tomorrow with hail and possible tornados so we are planning, right now, to hang down here for just a bit hoping to time our trip to avoid the storms.

We will layover in Yazoo and on Saturday take the next leg of our journey to northeast MS, on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks again,
John

Tuesday p.m.

It was a good night.  The crowd was a bit down but several visitors.  The pastor was pleased to see them.  The guest preacher spoke from Revelation…”You have left your first love”.  Many came to the altar at the invitation so God is working at Trinity Baptist. So continue to lift us up.  We will be closing services tomorrow night.

Looking forward to what God is going to do.

Blessings,
John

Monday and Tuesday a.m., Mathews

I’m sorry friends.  Things got late last night and I time got away.  I know you are checking this thing for updates and I appreciate it so very much.  Sorry for not keeping you up on things.

Let’s see…yesterday the pastor took me fishing for redfish and speckled trout.  I’ve been with him before and we’ve caught a bunch of “specks” but I’ve not had any luck when it came to “reds”.  Well, yesterday early I hooked into a really nice red and managed to land him.  It was a lot of fun and a really good fight.  He’ll taste really good.

The service last night was great.  The sprit was really good and the responsiveness of the congregation during the worship time was special.  We didn’t have any outward response during the invitation but we pray for the “watering” of the spiritual seed planted.

It was a good crowd with a number of sister churches joining in and a few students from Nichols Baptist Campus Ministry coming.  (remember that the director of the Nichols BCM is preaching)

Pray that people will move.  It just takes one many times.  Just one.  We’ll continue to press on, you pray.

Blessings,
John

Sunday, Mathews, LA

It was a great day!  The Sunday morning crowd was down just a bit but the folks were responsive.  Unlike other revivals I’ve done here in the past, I am doing just the worship leading and the director of the Baptist Campus Ministry at Nichols University is speaking.  He joined us tonight being unable to preach this morning.  The host pastor preached this morning.  Following the service a lady who is active in the church and very faithful came to him saying she was pretty sure she wasn’t saved.

Making a long story short, there on the front steps of the church this 73 year old former Sunday School teacher, GA leader, etc., etc, prayed to receive Christ.  What an awesome start to revival services at Trinity Baptist Church, Mathews, LA.

Continue to pray others will come and be a part of this meeting.  Prayfully I’ll have more to share in the coming days.

Blessings
John

Safe Arrival

Whew!  Praise the Lord and thanks for the prayers.  We delayed our start time by about an hr. and God gave us a window almost the entire way.  We had a few downpours but nothing like what we expected.  Tonight there is a second round of storms coming through which is another reason for our “day early” travels.

Tomorrow we’ll move in equipment and ready ourselves for services beginning Sunday.  I’ll keep you posted.  Pray for revival.  Trinity Baptist Church and pastor, Rod King.

Blessings
John
