Tuesday at Bucatunna

Another good night. The folks are so sweet and responsive to the Lord and His leadership. We had supper at the church tonight as we’ve done each night. It was “chicken night”. I’m telling you, it was as if there was entire chicken truck dropped in a deep fryer! Awesome!
At 7 pm we began the service with an almost full house. Many moved during the invitation and we are grateful for each.
Continue to pray for my voice. God is hearing you and honoring your requests on my behalf.

Monday Night

It was a good day. The pastor picked us up at the hotel this morning and we drove to a church members house for lunch. Great fellowship.
This evening was “Italian” night so there was spaghetti and lasagna everywhere! I behaved knowing that I was leading the service later in the evening.
The crowd was great tonight. Several of the sister churches came so it was a good night.
My voice, though tired is holding up really well, so thank you for the prayers. Please continue to lift me up anytime the Lord brings me to your mind.
Blessings,
John

Sunday Revival

It was a good day. It was high attendance Sunday at Buckatunna Baptist Church and there were 111 in Sunday School. The people are a wonderful and sweet group of folks that were very gracious in their comments toward us and this ministry.
The church is doing something this week that I”ve not seen. The church is located way out in the county and the are encouraging everyone to come to the church at 6 p.m. for a meal followed by the service at 7 p.m. Without this convenience, it was be very difficult for these folks to get home from work, feed their families and still get to the service in time. Pretty cool!
The kids are responding to the ventriloquism especially and I’ve had a number of adults who said their kids sat up all afternoon watching the clock to make sure they made it back. Awesome!
We’ve been blessed to see people at the altar at the invitation of each service and are grateful to the Lord for that. Your prayers for my voice will be much appreciated. Doing well right now but will begin to strain a bit during the week. Just the nature of the calling.

Safe Arrival

Well, we arrived this evening and drove out to Buckatunna Baptist Church to move in our equipment and get things ready for tomorrow.
It’s a small church. The attendance board recorded 67 last Sunday. Tomorrow is high attendance Sunday so there are lots of things going on. I’ll begin at 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall with the kids. I’ll do 15 minutes there then head up to the sanctuary for the remainder of the service.
Please be in prayer for my voice as I do the work asked of me.
Blessings!

Revival

Hi friends. Well, we’re heading out in the morning for a revival meeting on the outskirts of Meridian, MS. Buckatunna Baptist Church is not a church I’ve ever been in so we are looking forward to meeting new folks and excited to see God work.
Please be in prayer for the church, the accompianist and us as we minister. I will be doing both the music and the preaching so prayer for my voice would be appreciated as well. Lord willing, I will keep you up to speed on how to pray and give you updates on the working of the Holy Spirit.
Blessings,
John

Great Weekend

Hey folks and thanks for the prayers. The voice hung in there and we had a great day at Desoto Hills. I did a spot of ventriloquism, sung before the pastor preached then played the offertory on my horn.
Tonights service was advertised pretty heavily and there was a great crowd. Lots of young families with kids so it was an active night.
It’s quarter to 10 p.m. and we’ve arrived back at the hotel. Thanks again for the prayers. My voice will appreciate a week off. Remember, we’re heading to Yazoo City to help out the folks for a couple of days and hopefully will be in Wednesday evening.

Saturday, Southhaven

Hi friends. Had a long day but a good one. Drove the 400 miles to Southhaven, MS, to Desoto Hills Baptist Church. We set up and went to grab a bite to eat. At 7 p.m. we had a nice group of kids and parents. Most were members but a few were the visitors they were trying to reach.
PLease pray for my voice. A little bit of sinus and heavy use and I’m struggling just a bit. I’ll do a spot of ventriloquism, sing, and play my horn in the morning service and give a concert in the evening.
Blessings

To Southhaven, MS

Hi Friends,
Tomorrow morning (Saturday) we head to Southhaven, MS. An exciting church, Desoto Hills Baptist Church, is doing a family weekend. On Saturday night we’re having a kids blowout with me, my friends, and ice cream sundaes. Awesome!
On Sunday, I’ll participate in the morning service (ventriloquism spot, maybe offertory) the give a concert to the church Sunday night. I’ve been with the church a few times over the years and with this pastor a few more times through the years so it’s exciting to go back and renew relationships!
Pray for safe travel and that God will work in and through all that’s done!

Home

It was a good day but a very busy one. We began the day at a little church in rural MS. It was a good day as they had advertised to pull in community people (hopefullly many unchurched) and although I don’t know how many unchurched there were but my host said he believed there were actually as many if not more visitors than home folks. The home church family was very excited about the turnout.
Following the service there was a pot-luck lunch. After we ate, we broke down equipment headed to our host home to rest for an hour or so.
Around 4 p.m. we headed to Kosciusko for an Associational Baptist meeting where I was with kids for an hour. It was a good time and the kids the responsive.
We broke down following the meeting, went back to the host home once again and COLLAPSED.
We headed home around 9:30 this morning and arrived home around 4 p.m. Good to be home. A successful trip and now I’ll use this week to prepare for the upcoming ministry opportunity in Southhaven, MS.
Blessings,
John

Headed to MS

We are packing and leaving first thing in the morning. Here’s the plan. Tomorrow evening we set up in a small church in east central MS. A little town by the name of Ethel. On Sunday morning I will have the entire morning service to use my “friends”, play my horns, sing, and preach. Following the service and lunch, we’ll break things down and head to Kosciusko, MS, where we will set up again for an Associational Event beginning at 5 p.m. Actually, there is a corporate worship service at 5 and I begin once the service is complete at 6 p.m. and go til 7 p.m.
On Monday morning we’ll head back home. Thanks for the prayers,
John
