Thanks for the prayers. It was a good trip and the Lord allowed us to miss the heavy downpours while driving to and from Alexandria. There was a steady sprinkle during the kids event on Saturday but because it was a water event, things were all good and the kids had a great time. The night ended with my program at 6 p.m. Lots of fun.
On Sunday I used two of my friends then preached to the church. God worked and the altar filled during the invitation.
Thanks again for the prayers.

A Day in Yazoo
It was a good day. A little busy, a little frustrating. Repaired a lamp, threw another one away. Yep, me doing electrical. I still have my hair albeit a bit curlier. ha ha
The second lamp, a floor model, took the better part of the day and a run to 4 different hardware stores before realizing that it was at the end of life. Just couldn’t be saved.
Tomorrow will be fence mending. And I don’t mean relationships…I mean a fence. We are still scheduled to head out to Boyce, LA, on Saturday.
Thanks for the continued prayers.
Louisiana Bound
Hi friends,
This morning we begin our trek to Louisiana. We will stop by Yazoo City for a couple of days to help out the parents then on to Boyce, LA, for a Family Weekend. We’ll be with the kids on Saturday night and speak to the church on Sunday morning. Following a church wide lunch on Sunday, our plan is to head back home.
Pray for each event and pray for travel.
Blessings,
John
Sunday, August 30
It was a really good day at Christ the King Lutheran Church. They used this ministry following their pot-luck luncheon. We elected to participate in worship with them instead of showing up in time to “perform”. Following our worship time, we had lunch then Vern, Sparky and the Professor showed up for a time of encouragement and challenge.
The people were very grateful and receptive. A good day. Thanks for the prayers,
John
Another Week at home
It was a good day yesterday as we shared time with friends at home. I sat in the orchestra pit and played throughout the service, we shared lunch with some friends then participated in small groups. It was a blessing! This week we’ll get some work done around the house and I’ll prepare for a program next Sunday morning at a local church.
Thank you for keeping us in your prayers!
Concert Tonight, Hickory, MS
Hi friends,
It’s off this morning to Hickory, MS, for a church-wide family concert. I plan on arriving around 4 p.m. to move in and set up the necessary equipment.
After staying over tonight, we’ll head back home in the morning.
Thanks for the prayers. Lord willing, I’ll be able to post an update following the concert.
Blessings,
John
Home Again
Thanks for the prayers, friends. Everything went well other than an inability to reach you. No internet and no phone service was a difficulty but we just focused on the tasks to which we were called and things turned out well.
On Saturday morning we had a program “for kids only” that went about an hour followed by lunch. A great group of kids and some adults showed up.
On Sunday morning I had the entire service, leading in worship, I used a “friend”, played during the offertory, then brought the morning message.
Sunday night I gave a concert geared for the entire church and God really blessed it as the altar filled at the conclusion with people desiring a deeper walk and many with a burden for the lost.
Again, thank you for your prayers. We’ll head out next on Sunday.
Blessings,
John
Family Weekend, West Point, MS
Hi Friends,
I’m going to give you a run down of the weekend and I’m not sure that I will be able to give you any reports of the services due to a lack of resources on the field.
We leave this morning and will move in equipment and set up at the church. The first program is for kids at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Sat) morning.
Then, on Sunday morning I will play the offertory and sing the music before preaching the morning message.
For Sunday evening I will be giving a church-wide concert to the family.
Thank you for remember us as we travel and praying that God has His will and way in each service.
We will return home Monday, Lord willing.
Blessings,
John
Day 1, TN Camp
It was a great day with the building dedication and it was a joy to be a part of it all.
Following dinner on the ground after the service, we packed up and headed to Chattanooga. We arrived around 8:15 or so then after a night’s rest, headed to the camp. Today was busy and the kids, although a small group, were very active and responsive. Tomorrow is decision night for the kids so pray that everything is crystal clear and that those who don’t know Him may come to Him.
Thanks for the prayers,
John
TN road trip
It’s back on the road time for us as we head out to Gates, TN. Gates Baptist Church is a sweet community church that I have had the privilege of having a close relationship with for about 11 years or so now. They have built a new multifunctional building and are having a dedication day tomorrow. I will participate in the service, have “dinner on the ground” in the new building then pack up and head to the other side of the state, Chattanooga. On Monday I will begin a kid’s camp (pre-teen) that will run through Wednesday.
Pray for safe travel and that we will see kids come to Christ and others establish a deeper walk.
Blessings,
John
