Good Week, Yazoo
Thank you for the prayers. We wrapped up today and it was a good week. We didn’t see quite the enrollment or decisions that we wanted to see but a lot of seed was planted in the hearts and lives of the kids. My voice, after almost a month at home, became a bit edgy and hoarse but came right back about mid week.
Today Patty is driving her dad over for a P.E.T. scan to help the oncologist zero in on the necessary cancer areas. We are praying for divine healing and that no cancer will be found but God’s will first.
Tomorrow we head to Baton Rouge for another week of VBS. We appreciate your prayers. Safety in travel, vocal strength and lives changed. Parkview Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, LA.
Blessings,
John
Thursday, Yazoo VBS
Another good day in Bible School. The kids are picking up on the music and seem to be enjoying my “friends” as we teach the message of the day.
Now, it’s back to working around mom and dad’s to get some necessary things done around their house.
Patty is lining everything up for her dad to go to his P.E.T. scan tomorrow. Lot’s to do but it’s getting done one step at a time.
Thanks for the prayers.

Wednesday, Yazoo VBS
4 professions of faith today, PTL!! It was a great day. Attendance has picked up and the kids are having a great time.
Following the opening assembly today, I headed to a local day school to minister there as a rep of the children’s ministry here at FBC. About 50, 2,3, and 4 year olds! ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG! Oh, well. Fun day!
Thanks for the continued prayers. I’m able to get many things done for mom and dad in the fix it department and Patty has been able to help her dad get things in line for his upcoming chemo treatments.
Blessings,
John
Day One
It was a typical “1st day” at VBS. Lots of admin work to do and lots and lots of energy. It’s a primarily younger group so that presents some of it’s own issues but all in all a good start of the week.
Continue to pray for more kids and opportunities.
Blessings,
John
Good Start
It was a good day at FBC, Yazoo. It was kids day and the preschool and kids choirs sang then I had the platform. I played my horn, used The Professor, sang, and preached to the family.
God really moved as the altar filled and one came for profession of faith. That man was the brother of the children’s minister and many had been praying a long time. This was his first time in church but God had prepared him. Really a good story and a huge victory!!
We will begin early in the morning with a kickoff time of 8 a.m.
Thank you for your prayers!

Loading it up
After a month off the road, with the exception of a couple of banquets, it’s time to load it up and head out.
It really never ceases to amaze that when the calls don’t come in and the calendar has some blanks, God knows what He’s going to do with us.
We were able to do the paperwork and all that goes with it to officially become John Yates Ministry, LLC. We felt after much prayer, that this was the way God wanted us to go so it’s been a busy time getting the extra things set up (i.e. checking account, bookkeeping, notification to those responsible with the upcoming bookings)
Then, Patty’s dad has been diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, mantle cell. She’s been in Yazoo City ministering to her dad, running to Jackson for doctor’s appointments and such and will continue to do so.
My first VBS in in Yazoo that will be convenient. She’ll be able to work with the ministry then take her dad to Jackson on Tuesday for a PET scan to get ready for chemo. We appreciate the prayers.
On Sunday, I have the privilege of preaching at First Baptist in Yazoo. This is the church where I was raised. Dad pastored there for 30 years.
I’ll keep you posted. Thanks for checking in!

Ridgecrest, Dothan, AL
Fun night. It was sweet to see the little guys with their moms for the mom/son banquet. Some of my “friends” showed up as well as the reading of the book, “The Squire and the Scroll”. It’s a really nice book for young boys on purity and honor.
Now it’s time to gear up and learn the remainder of the VBS music.
Keep in touch!

Father/Daughter Banquet
We were in Dothan, AL, tonight for Ridgecrest Baptist Church’s Father/Daughter Banquet. It was a sweet night with the kids ministry as the book; “The Princess and the Kiss” (a cute book on Christian purity) was read then I talked about Character Traits of a Princess using the story of Esther.
Of course, no banquet with girls would be complete unless Sparky made his appearance.
Fun night!
Tomorrow night we’ll do it again for the boys. Mother/Son banquet will begin at 6 p.m. and is themed. “The Squire and the Scroll” taken from the boys book by the same name. I’ll let you know,
John
Thursday, Mens Retreat
It was a good night, gang. Late…..but good. Got a late start due to some unforseen circumstances but God spoke as we worshipped.
Today was a day filled with golf for some, motorcycle riding, and fishing for others. We will be heading out to eat in the next 20 minutes and then we will worship again.
Pray for safety tomorrow as everyone travels home after lunch!
Blessings,
John
