Great service! It was Youth Night and there were about 250 students present as well as the “normal” attenders. I led in worship then headed to another building to be with the AWANA group of 120 kids. Lots of fun and energy in that group. We went for about an hour while the big service was going on.
The last report for the Youth service was 23 professions of faith. Thank you Lord.
Tomorrow morning we will head back to the church to pack up and load before heading back to Yazoo City.
Appreciate the prayers!

Haughton, Tuesday
Wonderful service as we worshipped tonight. The congregation was a bit smaller than we hoped but the cold front is brutal. This morning, as 8 a.m. it was 60 degrees and raining. Then the wind picked up and by 3 p.m. it was 28 degrees with a 28 mph wind. As I right this, the wind is still blowing and the temp is somewhere around 17 degrees.
Oh yeah, did I tell you that Patty and I both left our winter coats in Enterprise? Seriously, we did. Traveling for 25 years, planning using internet weather reporting, and knowing there was some really cold weather headed to Shreveport, we got so busy loading everything else in the 65 degrees of Enterprise, we simply forgot. Geez
But I digress…it was a great service and we appreciate your continued prayers.
Tomorrow morning, I will head to the church to do the preschool chapel service and get things together for tomorrow night. It will be a very busy evening. It’s Youth Night and I will lead in worship again then when I finish my portion of the service, I will head over to another part of the facilities to do a program for the AWANA kids. Eastwood has a rather large program and I was asked to use my friends and music for the evening. It will be fun.
We will be breaking down all the equipment and loading it up before coming back to the hotel tomorrow night. On Thursday we’ll head on to Yazoo City.
Blessings,
John
Haughton, Monday night
It was a really nice service full of worship and praise and a powerful sermon brought by the guest preacher, Chad Grayson.
The service was well attended and the musicians did well keeping up with me and the choir started things off really well.
It’s a bit difficult coming in on a Monday after everything has kicked off the previous Sunday. There’s momentum in revival services and the people get to know you and your ministry style a bit on Sunday. Nevertheless, the people were very receptive and we look for great things this week.
Thanks for the prayers,
John
Haughton, LA, Arrival
Hi gang. It was a rather long day yesterday when mid morning we headed up to First Methodist in Montgomery to participate in their Bible Conference. It was a quick afternoon but all went well. We then packed and loaded to drive from there to Yazoo City to spend the night. We had pretty good rain the entire trip and although we saw several cars that had left the road at some point due to hydroplaning, we got through, arriving in Yazoo a little later than we had hoped.
We pulled out of Yazoo around 9 a.m. and drove to Haughton, LA, outside Shreveport arriving at 1:30. The worship pastor and administrator met us and helped us move in and get wired into the system to prepare for tonight’s service.
We appreciate your prayers as we begin our first of several revival services this quarter.
Blessings,
John
Hitting the Road!
It’s been a very busy week preparing for the next 11 days. Hey, by the way, thanks for checking in. I know this blog has a been a touch inactive to say the least the last few days but here we go.
This past week I have prepared for a Bible Conference that is tomorrow in Montgomery, revival services that begin Monday just outside Shreveport then another revival meeting beginning Sunday Feb. 6th.
We have been praying for God to do a great work and look forward to seeing His handiwork. I’ll be trying to keep you up on all the specifics.
Blessings,
John
Sunday in New Brockton
It was a good day in New Brockton, AL. I began with Sunday School as I talked with the family and used this ministry.
Then I led in worship and brought the morning message. The people were so gracious and receptive and although there was no movement during the invitation, we know God’s Word doesn’t return void.
We finished the day by doing a concert in the 6 p.m. service. The crowds were good. The interim pastor said that the crowds were as good as he has seen in the 4 months or so that he has served there.
Thank you for your prayers. We will take this week to finish preparation for our travel at the end of the week.
Blessings,
John
Sunday
It was a good day as we worshipped in our home church this morning then began Life Groups tonight. Had a great turnout and they will begin studying David Platt’s book “Radical”.
Patty and I will begin our traveling ministry next Sunday and will be out until March 20. Lots happening so we appreciate your prayers.
It’s looks to be another exciting and unpredictable year of ministry.
Blessings,
John
Another Day of Prep
Spent this morning running necessary errands then spent the afternoon and evening in my office loading new choruses and putting the lyric presentations together.
Hey, I’m just about to recover from the flooring. My knees barely ache and are only slightly swollen and my fingers are almost normal size now! Cool!!
Thanks for the prayers!
Finished!
Praise the Lord, we finished the flooring today! All that’s left is to nail in the quarter-round and secure the threshholds and it will be completed. It was quite a job that would not have even come close to happening had it not be for my bud from south Louisiana who generously gave his time and talents for, what he called, “his mission trip”. Thanks Rod! Oh, and Stacey, thanks for all the help working with Patty and keeping the flooring clean and keeping food on the table! You guys are awesome!
Love you guys, and thanks for the prayers,
John
Flooring, Day 2
Wow, knees ache, back hurts, hands are roughed up but everything is shaping up nicely. We began work in the hall at 9 a.m. today and worked up to the front door then went into the den. We knocked off at lunch then got back to it finally quiting for the day at 6:30 p.m. We are halfway through the den now and looking pretty good. It’s a little slower going than we had hoped but looks beautiful.
Thanks for checking in!
