Wednesday, Columbus

Well, if you are checking in after not finding a post last night, thanks for your faithfulness. It’s a blessing!
We saw 3 kids come to Christ on Kids Night last night. It was so exciting. We made the decision to load equipment this monring and go on out to eat with the team. Well, we saw our first tornado! How bout that?
A huge storm moved in toward the end of the service, another reason for the delay in loading. We headed out to eat and as we went toward town on Hwy 82 (major 4 lane around Columbus) the rain got harder with tremendous lightning. That’s when we saw it. The ominus funnel. It wasn’t touching down and because of the intense rain, we just weren’t positive but because of the rain and the hail that was increasing, we took an early exit off the road and got under the overpass to “ride it out”.
It was after things began to slow just a bit, that we headed to the resturant to find out that “a tornado had just passed over Hwy 82/Hwy 50. Yep, that was our overpass!
We got back to the hotel around 10 and there was no power in the hotel. Everything was restored around 1 a.m.
Now you know why there was no blogging last night! What a night!

We are headed out to the church this morning to load up. Another large storm is headed in.
Thanks for the prayers,
John

Tuesday, Columbus

It was a very busy day today. It’s now 10:20 p.m. and we’ve been back in the room for about 15 minutes. We began the day today with a school program at 8 a.m. and really haven’t stopped since.
The service tonight was, again, powerful and spirit-filled and the altar filled once again. There was no public profession of faith but God is clearly working on several individuals we’ve been told about so pray that they will yield to His voice tomorrow.
Our day will begin early once again. We will be in a different school in the morning at 8 a.m. then have kids night with a program at 6:15 then the service at 7 p.m.
Thanks again for checking in and we appreciate your prayers!
John

Monday, Columbus

A busy day today. This morning we met at the church at 10 a.m. for prayer. We prayed specifically for a number of things in the church and for a mighty move of the Spirit throughout this week.
Tonights service again found many at the altar and it appeared others under conviction. We pray to see God move and for them to be obedient.
Tomorrow I will be at Victory Academy chapel first thing in the morning. The voice is doing fine and we appreciate your continued prayers on our behalf!
Blessings,
John

Sunday, Columbus

It was a busy day and a great start to revival. Although there were no professions for Christ (of course, revival is for the church, not the lost) the altar will filled both a.m. and p.m. services.
The people were so friendly and we had more people come up before the service and introduce themselves than we’ve most likely ever had or certainly in a very long time. Wonderful spirit.
As with most churches like this one, I used a hymn medley early and contemporary chorus later and there was equal response as all joined in and many hands raised.
We are looking for big things from the Lord this week and the congregation seems right on the verge of breaking out in revival.
Pray for us, the guest speaker Bro. Wayne Hudson, and the church body of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.
Blessings,
John

Safe arrival in Columbus, MS

Wow, what a day! We pulled out from Lebanon, TN, and it was 44 degrees, wind at 15 mph and rain. Just lovely! Nevertheless, kinda testy driving but we made it fine. Left around 9:30 and drove straight to the church, arriving about 3:45. We got all the equipment moved in, unhooked the trailer and headed out to grab a bite before moving into our hotel for the week.
We’ll begin with rehearsal in the morning at 8:30.
Remember Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and guest preacher, Wayne Hutson.
Thanks for the prayers.

R.A. Wilderness Challenge

Wow, what a night of storms but God answered our prayers and we had a “window” to move in equipment before the bottom dropped out again. REally nasty stuff but the boys spirits seemed fine. The crowd was down from what I was told to expect. About 100 total, including adult leadership participated in our time together. We pray that the seed that was planted will come to fruition this weekend.
We got back to the room around 11 p.m. and will try and get to bed pretty soon. We plan on heading out to Columbus, MS, around 9 a.m. tomorrow. We’ll be setting up our equipment tomorrow evening for the revival that begins Sunday.
Appreciate the prayers!

Wow, the weather

Well, we drove yesterday to Huntsville to spend the night and visit with friends. Woke this morning to some pretty nasty weather and knowing that somehow we had to head toward Lebanon, TN, for the R.A. Wilderness Challenge. We watched the doplar and waited for an opening, heading out around 12:45. It was a rough trip all the way but we arrived at our hotel around 3:15 and are going to wait a bit before heading to the campground for tonights event. We don’t actually do our part until 8:30 but we will probably head out around 5 or so depending on the weather.
Appreciate your prayers for the approx 300 boys and dads spending the weekend at this camp. I”ll give you an update late tonight.
Blessings,
John

Wednesday, Salem

It was a great closing night as the altar filled with students praying to be what God wanted them to be and praying for lost friends. One came with profession of faith in Christ.
Thank you for your prayers as all the tech stuff worked well and the weather was great, nice and cool.
Tomorrow we head to Huntsville for the night before driving on up to Lebanon, TN, for the Tenn Baptist Convention R.A. Wilderness Challenge where I’ll be speaking to about 300 boys and their dads on Friday night. I look forward to giving you a report late Friday or early Saturday morning.
Blessings,
John

Tuesday, Salem

Fun night and a good crowd. We were back in the tent with a little over 80 people in attendance. We didn’t have any public decisions but the spirit was good.
God kinda demonstrated who was in control. Got a little chuckle from it all. We got to the tent to set up everything and got it about ready when I was told there was a girl that was going to sing. Well, I had lined up exactly what I felt God leading me to do so this kinda disrupted all that but I asked her to come up and give me the c.d. and get a sound check. She was going to sing “Indescribable” by Chris Tomlin. This was one of the chourses we were scheduled to sing. So I took it out, replaced it with “Forever” and took out my feature which was “He Knows My Name”.
Right before the service began, I was told there was a group of 3 girls that brought a c.d. and wanted to sing. Apparently, this is what you do. You find a church having services and you put a c.d. accomp track in your purse and head to the church. Well, we simply had no time to squeeze them in but because they would be attending their own church tomorrow night, they were willing to sing at the conclusion of the service. The song they brought with them? “He Knows My Name.” Funny huh?
Tomorrow we wrap things up. Pray for strength both physically and vocally.
Blessings,
John

Monday, Salem

Hi friends. The day was interesting. About noon we went to the church to set up the equipment. Remember, we are having a tent meeting but a big storm was headed our way, so we made the call early to meet in the sanctuary. Didn’t have the visitors we expected. Could have been the storm, could have been the fact we weren’t in the tent or, in the case of one older man, could’ve been because I had an opening screen on my powerpoint that had scripture in a translation other than King James. Said that anything other than King James was a lie and that’s why there are so many gays and the like in the world today because so many churches are preaching a lie. Hmmmmmm, well thanks much and have a good day. He left before we even started the service. Kinda glad though. He seemed to be one that might have made a scene if he waited until I began preaching since I use, mostly, NASB. Whatever…….
The people are gracious and we hope to be back in the tent tomorrow and maybe others will come.
We’ve had a few glitches that come with the territory so pray that God will be victorious through it all as we have already seen.
I’m really tired folks. This setting up and breaking down every service is a bit tiresome but the concept is good.
Keep up the prayers!
John
