Great Weekend

Hey folks and thanks for the prayers. The voice hung in there and we had a great day at Desoto Hills. I did a spot of ventriloquism, sung before the pastor preached then played the offertory on my horn.
Tonights service was advertised pretty heavily and there was a great crowd. Lots of young families with kids so it was an active night.
It’s quarter to 10 p.m. and we’ve arrived back at the hotel. Thanks again for the prayers. My voice will appreciate a week off. Remember, we’re heading to Yazoo City to help out the folks for a couple of days and hopefully will be in Wednesday evening.

Saturday, Southhaven

Hi friends. Had a long day but a good one. Drove the 400 miles to Southhaven, MS, to Desoto Hills Baptist Church. We set up and went to grab a bite to eat. At 7 p.m. we had a nice group of kids and parents. Most were members but a few were the visitors they were trying to reach.
PLease pray for my voice. A little bit of sinus and heavy use and I’m struggling just a bit. I’ll do a spot of ventriloquism, sing, and play my horn in the morning service and give a concert in the evening.

To Southhaven, MS

Hi Friends,
Tomorrow morning (Saturday) we head to Southhaven, MS. An exciting church, Desoto Hills Baptist Church, is doing a family weekend. On Saturday night we’re having a kids blowout with me, my friends, and ice cream sundaes. Awesome!
On Sunday, I’ll participate in the morning service (ventriloquism spot, maybe offertory) the give a concert to the church Sunday night. I’ve been with the church a few times over the years and with this pastor a few more times through the years so it’s exciting to go back and renew relationships!
Pray for safe travel and that God will work in and through all that’s done!

Home

It was a good day but a very busy one. We began the day at a little church in rural MS. It was a good day as they had advertised to pull in community people (hopefullly many unchurched) and although I don’t know how many unchurched there were but my host said he believed there were actually as many if not more visitors than home folks. The home church family was very excited about the turnout.
Following the service there was a pot-luck lunch. After we ate, we broke down equipment headed to our host home to rest for an hour or so.
Around 4 p.m. we headed to Kosciusko for an Associational Baptist meeting where I was with kids for an hour. It was a good time and the kids the responsive.
We broke down following the meeting, went back to the host home once again and COLLAPSED.
We headed home around 9:30 this morning and arrived home around 4 p.m. Good to be home. A successful trip and now I’ll use this week to prepare for the upcoming ministry opportunity in Southhaven, MS.
Blessings,
John

Headed to MS

We are packing and leaving first thing in the morning. Here’s the plan. Tomorrow evening we set up in a small church in east central MS. A little town by the name of Ethel. On Sunday morning I will have the entire morning service to use my “friends”, play my horns, sing, and preach. Following the service and lunch, we’ll break things down and head to Kosciusko, MS, where we will set up again for an Associational Event beginning at 5 p.m. Actually, there is a corporate worship service at 5 and I begin once the service is complete at 6 p.m. and go til 7 p.m.
On Monday morning we’ll head back home. Thanks for the prayers,
John

Home

Thanks for the prayers. It was a good trip and the Lord allowed us to miss the heavy downpours while driving to and from Alexandria. There was a steady sprinkle during the kids event on Saturday but because it was a water event, things were all good and the kids had a great time. The night ended with my program at 6 p.m. Lots of fun.
On Sunday I used two of my friends then preached to the church. God worked and the altar filled during the invitation.
Thanks again for the prayers.

A Day in Yazoo

It was a good day. A little busy, a little frustrating. Repaired a lamp, threw another one away. Yep, me doing electrical. I still have my hair albeit a bit curlier. ha ha
The second lamp, a floor model, took the better part of the day and a run to 4 different hardware stores before realizing that it was at the end of life. Just couldn’t be saved.
Tomorrow will be fence mending. And I don’t mean relationships…I mean a fence. We are still scheduled to head out to Boyce, LA, on Saturday.
Thanks for the continued prayers.

Louisiana Bound

Hi friends,
This morning we begin our trek to Louisiana. We will stop by Yazoo City for a couple of days to help out the parents then on to Boyce, LA, for a Family Weekend. We’ll be with the kids on Saturday night and speak to the church on Sunday morning. Following a church wide lunch on Sunday, our plan is to head back home.
Pray for each event and pray for travel.
Blessings,
John
