Sunday in Cabot

Hi partners,

Thanks for the prayers.  Our trip up was uneventful.  We got equipment moved in for a very busy day.  Sunday we got to the church at 8:30 to put the finishing prep work to be ready for the kids at 9 a.m.  We had K-2nd grade first from 9 to 9:45.  Then a break until 10:15 when we got 3rd – 6th grade until 11 a.m.

Following that program, we broke the equipment down and moved everything to the fellowship hall for the Senior Adult Appreciation luncheon.  We got back to the hotel about 2:30.  At 5 p.m. we headed back to the church to get ready for the evening family concert.

At 6:30 we began and went until 7:30.  Everything went well and your prayers gave us the vocal and physical strength to do the work.  It was a good night.

We’ll head home tomorrow for 9 1/2 hr. trip.  Thanks again for the prayers.  You’re a blessing.

Closing Night

Thanks for the prayers.  We wrapped things up tonight with another round of decisions.  God really moved this week in a way I haven’t seen in some time.  Before tonight we saw 245 decisions for Christ and it looked like another 20 tonight.

Pray for Birchman Baptist Church as they begin the monumental task of following up on all the decisions and getting the people plugged in to a church.

Tomorrow I’ll head back to Yazoo City to spend Thursday and Friday before heading to Cabot, AR, on Saturday.

Blessings

Kid’s Night

What a night we had as we saw families from all over the area show up for kid’s night.  Our school efforts paid off and we fed approximately 400 or so at the pizza supper.  I shared at the supper then we headed into the sanctuary for the service.  At the invitation there were 90 decisions including at least 2 families (mom, dad, and 2 kids) all receiving Christ.

As my friends in India would say; “God is distiguishing Himself.”  We’ll be concluding services tonight with family night.

Thanks for the continued prayers,

John

Revival Update

Tonight was youth night.  Keith Davis went into the schools today and boy was it crazy at the service tonight.  I’m not really sure how many youth were in attendance tonight but I would guess close to 300 or so, maybe more.  There were a few problems, nothing real serious but simply a result of so many kids who have never or seldom been in church.  Keith began the service by demonstrating his strength then a great testimony.  Dr. Jerry Pipes completed the service then with an appeal there were many, many decisions.  Not sure how many, all the counseling wasn’t completed.  I’ll report tomorrow once I find out.

I’ll head to one more school tomorrow then have the kids night at the church.  Pray we see many come to Christ.

Blessings,                                                                                                                                                                                                         John

Ft. Worth Sunday

Great start to our meeting out here.  We had great services and saw approximately 40 men, women, and children come to Christ.

We look forward to all God is going to do the rest of the week.  Tomorrow is youth night with special guest, Keith Davis, former New York Giant football player.  He and I will be in schools tomorrow and I’ll be in schools on Tuesday to promote kid’s night Tuesday.

Pray that we’ll see many more make a commitment to Christ.  Services run through Wednesday night.

Blessings,                                                                                                                                                                                                         John

FT. Worth

Made it to Fort Worth, TX this evening and looking to kick things off full bore first thing in the morning.  We will begin with a “walk around” with the kids Sunday School to advertise our big event tomorrow afternoon at 4:30.  Then I’ll be singing the music before the preaching at the 10:30 service.

Pray for Birchman Baptist Church and all that will be going on during this time of revival.  And keep an eye on this blog as I will be giving updates as time permits.

Blessings,

John

Road Trip

Hi prayer partners,

We head out first thing in the morning to Yazoo City, MS, where we’ll spend Thursday and Friday with parents doing odd jobs and visiting then on Saturday I’ll head on to Fort Worth for the revival while Patty continues helping her folks.  On Thursday week, I’ll head back to Yazoo where after a couple of days we’ll both head to Cabot, AR, for a family day before heading home on the 28th.

Keep an eye out for new posts.  I’ll try and keep you up on things!

Blessings,

John

Weekend Sucess

Again, thanks for the prayers!  We finished the two services today and everything went well.  A few little tech problems in the evening presentation but all in all everything was good and the church folks were very responsive.  Now, we’ll get on the road tomorrow for the 10 hr. trip home.

Pray for travel and much needed vocal rest!

Missions Retreat

Praise the Lord we’ve made it throught the retreat and saw God work in some great ways.  This retreat was a missions emphasis and only a couple of days prior to the event did I find out I would be “preaching” to the kids for the opening service instead of sharing our trip to India, which we ended up sharing in the Saturday morning session.

At the conclusion of our time that night, I simply stated that the weekend was focused on sharing the love of Jesus and it was not possible to share something to which you are unfamiliar.  14 kids made a profession of faith.  What a great retreat, huh?

Tomorrow we’ll be in two different services.  A.M. will be at Oak Grove Heights Baptist Church in Oak Grove, AR, then tomorrow night we’ll be with FBC Marmaduke, AR.

On Monday we’ll head home.  Thank you for the continued prayers.

Retreat

Hi again,

Thanks for the prayers.  We hit some heavy rain on the trip but ran through it.  God gave us some fog and wind but for the most part we had little rain.  After we arrived, the storms moved back in with straight line winds of 50 to 60 miles an hr.  Some damage around but not to us and our location.  This afternoon we’ll be heading out to the actual campground where we’ll set up and minister overnight.  Then tomorrow (Saturday) we’ll break down equipment and move back to Paragould where we’ll be in two different churches Sunday. On Monday we’ll head back.  Almost a 10 hr. drive with few stops.

Again, thank you for the continued prayers!
